1. Introduction
Cension AB (“us”, “we”, or “our”) operates the marketing website at cension.ai and the authenticated application at app.cension.ai. This Cookie Policy describes the cookies, local-storage keys, and session-storage keys that the Service actually uses today, and explains your choices regarding them.
2. What are cookies and browser storage?
Cookies are small text files that a website asks your browser to store on your device. They allow the website to recognize your browser between requests and, for example, keep you signed in. Cookies can be “persistent” (they remain until they expire or you delete them) or “session-based” (they are removed when you close the browser).
Modern web applications also use local storage and session storage, which are similar key/value stores maintained by your browser. We disclose both categories in this Policy because a sophisticated user and any data-protection review will expect to see all client-side storage, not only classical cookies.
3. What Cension currently uses
3.1 Strictly necessary cookies
The following first-party cookies are required in order for the authenticated application to work. They are set automatically by our server when you interact with the Service and cannot be disabled without breaking sign-in and session continuity.
- Authentication cookie — issued by our API when you sign in.
HttpOnly,SameSite=Lax. Used to keep you signed in between requests. Persistent for the duration of your active session. - Session cookie — issued by our API to maintain short-lived server-side session state.
HttpOnly,SameSite=Lax. Expires on a short idle timeout.
3.2 Local storage and session storage used by the application
The authenticated application at app.cension.ai stores a small amount of state in your browser’s local storage and session storage so that the user interface can operate. These entries are first-party only and are never read by any third party.
- Authentication state (local storage) — used to recognize your sign-in across browser tabs.
- User context (local storage) — your organization and profile context used to render the user interface.
- Import-flow state (session storage) — temporary entries written during a dataset import so that the import workflow can resume if you navigate between steps.
These keys are not read by any third party; they are only read back by the Cension application itself.
3.3 Analytics, advertising, and tracking — not currently deployed
Cension does not currently deploy Google Analytics, Google Tag Manager, Google Ads / AdWords, Facebook Pixel, LinkedIn Insight Tag, TikTok Pixel, Hotjar, Mixpanel, Segment, PostHog, Heap, Amplitude, FullStory, LogRocket, or any comparable analytics, advertising, session-replay, or behavioral-remarketing tool on the authenticated Cension application. No session-replay or fingerprinting library is installed.
If we introduce any such tool in the future, we will update this Cookie Policy, disclose the specific vendor and the data collected, and — where required by law — present a consent interface to users in the European Economic Area and the United Kingdom before any non-essential cookie is set.
3.4 Third-party cookies from embedded content
Certain pages on the marketing site may link to or embed content from third parties (for example, an external meeting scheduler for requesting a demo). If you interact with that content, the third party may set its own cookies under its own privacy policy. We do not control those cookies.
4. Your choices
You can delete or block cookies at any time through your browser settings. Because the cookies currently used by the authenticated Cension application are strictly necessary for the Service to function, blocking them will prevent you from signing in. No non-essential cookies are set, so no separate opt-out is required for advertising or analytics today.
Browser-level cookie controls are documented here:
- Chrome: Google Chrome Support
- Firefox: Mozilla Firefox Support
- Safari: Apple Safari Support
- Edge: Microsoft Edge Support
